I adopted Esmerelda in the aftermath of losing my beloved cat guru of 14 years. He had lung tumors. So when I showed up at my vet's office with another cat that had breathing issues within a couple of months of losing him, the doctor said, "What is it with you and your cats with lung trouble?" We both thought he was kidding...
But now, I have gained a little bit of an understanding about the "psychology of the lungs" from Chinese medicine, which is all about processing grief, and about suffocation, reactiveness, vitality, surrender, release, and so on. Based on that understanding, I can see a correlation in my own life at the time.
I can give you another example of how "mirroring" came into the story of one of my clients.
